Since its founding in 1995, the Chesapeake Orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Silberschlag, has provided world-class professional music to over 760,000 appreciative people throughout the Chesapeake region and internationally.

In 1999, the Chesapeake Orchestra took up residency at St. Mary’s College of Maryland at the River Concert Series. Over the past 20 years, the River Concert Series has become the cultural and tourist destination for Southern Maryland, winning the Tourism Impact Awards from Two of Maryland‘s Governors.

Between 2012-2014, the Chesapeake Orchestra performed a series of 24 concerts at the National Harbor sponsored by the MGM Grand.

In 2013, The Chesapeake Orchestra became a partner Organization to the Alba Music Festival in Italy. Through this partnership, The Orchestra has brought many of its principal players to perform in Italy. Additionally, many

emerging artists made their debuts in Alba, and had their first international experience through this relationship.

In August of 2014, the Chesapeake Orchestra became the parent organization to the Maryland Youth Symphony Orchestra, an orchestral training program for talented music students based in Baltimore, Maryland, which was founded in 1964.
